During 2003, three trips to Argentina were sponsored by Earthwatch Institute. The principal investigators supervising the expeditions were Dr. Oscar Alcober and Dr. Ricardo Martinez.

In 2001 and 2002 (see galleries at left), the expeditions were conducted in the Ischigualasto Provincial Park (also known as the Valley of the Moon) in San Juan province. The 2003 expedition took place in the Talampaya National Park in La Rioja province. Together, the two parks are a UNESCO world heritage site. This area has the largest exposure of Triassic age rocks in the world. I participated in the expedition from September 13 to 27.
